NVIDIA and AMD are both gearing up to enter the scene with some budget-friendly GPUs this May, as they contend for the top spot in the mainstream market.
## NVIDIA & AMD Set to Take Over the Mid-End GPU Market with RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT
Right now, those looking for GPUs in the low-to-mid-tier range have limited options. This scarcity is largely because the latest-gen models, especially from NVIDIA, aren’t easy to find, pushing prices above the suggested retail. Over at AMD, the high demand for their RX 9070 series also means snagging one at MSRP is pretty rare. Fortunately, it seems both companies are about to unveil new solutions aimed squarely at the mainstream consumer. Reports from Benchlife suggest we might see them hit the market as early as next month.
Kicking things off with NVIDIA, they’re expected to launch the GeForce RTX 5060 by May 19. As for its specs, it’s looking like it’ll feature an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM setup running at 28 Gbps via a 128-bit memory bus. Additionally, the GeForce RTX 5060 will sport an increase in power consumption, with a 35W jump in TDP compared to the RTX 4060. Here’s a quick breakdown of how the RTX 5060 stands in comparison to its predecessor:
– 25% More CUDA Cores
– Same Memory Capacity
– Faster GDDR7 Memory (28 Gbps)
– Increased Bandwidth (+64%)
– 30% Higher power rating
Over at AMD, we’re awaiting the unveiling of the Radeon RX 9060 XT on May 21 at Computex, though it might not hit retail until June. The RX 9060 XT will use the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus, available in both 8GB and 16GB versions, comparable to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. It’s reportedly equipped with 2,048 stream processors, which is half of what the Radeon RX 9070 XT offers, but with game clocks set at 2620 MHz and boost clocks reaching 3230 MHz, it’s poised to deliver impressive performance for 1080p to 2K gaming.
We’ll be covering the NVIDIA and AMD launches live at Computex 2025, and if possible, we’ll give you an early look. The competition in the mid-tier GPU market is certainly heating up, making May a potential game-changer.
