Whoa, so Grounded 2 just dropped, right? This big ol’ sequel from Obsidian — those are the folks behind some huge hits, if you didn’t know. Anyway, they’ve thrown this one out into the wild as part of a trio of releases planned for 2025. Along with Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2. It’s up for grabs in Early Access on Xbox and PC, so if you’re into survival games, this could be your jam.
And there’s like, all sorts of ways to play it — Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and yada yada. Get it with Xbox Game Pass too. Or just buy it for $29.99, unless you’re feeling fancy and want the $39.99 Founder’s Edition with all the extras. Cosmetic gear, digital art book, the works. I didn’t get the fancy edition, LOL. But, you know, options.
Starting off, the game is already way bigger than its predecessor. They’ve got this Brookhollow Park map — massive, but it’s only a snippet right now, barely a fifth of what’s coming. From what I hear, there’s tons of stuff to mess around with, like crafting, more gear, buggy mounts (imagine hopping on ant soldiers). Weird, right? But kinda cool.
Ah, but the fun part, this is just the start. They’ve planned future patches — bringing new stuff. A roadmap’s out if you’re into planning your playtime (I’m more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda person). More like “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!” but with more bugs. They’ve talked about updates coming through next year and beyond. I might try to keep up. Keyword: might.
They’re dropping big updates every season. Fall, Winter, and then Summer 2026 – and you gotta love a named boss like AXL the tarantula. Imagine the gear you’ll get beating that thing. Also going to tweak some quality-of-life stuff — thank goodness. Building grid, pouches for your mounts… Easy peasy!
Oh! And don’t even get me started on the winter update. Binoculars, new bugs like crickets and earwigs (ew?), plus old systems making a comeback. They’re even hooking up specific crossplay for the Steam Deck. Useful? Uh, yeah, probably for some folks.
Summer 2026 comes with some water-themed goodies! Swimming tweaks, underwater bases? Imagine living in a bubble. Might be cool, but I get seasick just thinking about it. They’ve got secret expansions kept hush-hush too, so more surprises, yay!
To sum it up in a knot? Xbox and Obsidian have plans — lots of them. And this game’s gonna grow like weeds if all goes well. They’re aiming for regular updates, and solving bugs (the digital kind). Always a good thing, am I right?
Some reviewers love it. Others? Not so much. A bit rocky on Steam right now, complaints on performance, yada yada. But Early Access is supposed to iron that out, no? See, that’s why I’d suggest Game Pass for a test run first. No harm in trying it out without splashing the cash. Oh, and if you don’t have the Game Pass, there’s a deal for a month’s worth running at a tenner. Lifehack.
And that’s all, folks. Grounded 2’s out there waiting, just gotta decide if you’re diving in headfirst or not.
