Wow, Nintendo is at it again, making moves up north. So, apparently, they’re tweaking the pricing on their stuff in Canada. The whole shebang — the regular ol’ Switch, the fancy OLED, and the more portable Switch Lite — all getting some kind of price shuffle. Plus, games and Amiibos are in the mix too! Their store in Canada gets the updated prices from August 1. But why? They said something about “market conditions.” Classic, right? Inflation… logistics… maybe even mystical tariffs? Who can say? Anyway, feels like they’re hinting at a price hike more than a drop.
Currently, if you’re scoring a basic Switch, it’s tagged at CAD $399; the OLED’s slightly more at CAD $449, while the Lite is the cheapest at CAD $259. But who knows? With everything going up these days, maybe tack on an extra 5-10%? Total guesswork here, but it wouldn’t shock me.
And this isn’t Nintendo’s first rodeo doing stuff because of “market conditions.” Remember back in April? They pulled the Switch 2 pre-orders in the U.S. and Canada. The whole tariff drama and all that jazz… They delayed pre-orders to sort things out but managed to launch the console by June 5. Yay, deadlines met!
No worries about the Switch 2 being part of this current price chaos though. That one’s doing fine — bigger screen, killer internals, and sold like gangbusters. If there’s a number for record-breaking fast, it’s got it — 3.5 million units in four days!
