HTC’s been doing its VR thing for a while now, right? So, back in 2021, they rolled out the Vive Pro 2. And — surprise, surprise — it’s been their top-shelf PC VR headset ever since. Fast forward to now, and you can snag it cheaper than before, but only for a bit.
Why? Well, they kicked off this Summer of Gaming Sale thing. It’s rolling on until June 30th, so if you’re eyeing this last-gen PC VR setup, here’s the scoop. Two types of deals are up for grabs: the full kit or just the headset alone. Choices!
Alright, so here’s what they’re offering:
- Vive Pro 2 Full Kit for $799.99 (originally $1,199). This bundle’s got the headset, SteamVR 2.0 Base Station, and those Vive wand controllers.
- Just want the Vive Pro 2 Headset? That’s $499.99, down from $699. No base station or controllers though, so maybe keep that in mind.
Oh, and you also get two months of this Viveport Infinity subscription thingy. Think of it like a buffet of over a thousand VR titles. Eat up! Or, um, play up?
Now, about the specs. Honestly, they might bore you, but here we go:
- Resolution: 2,448 × 2,448 per eye, if numbers mean lots to you.
- Refresh Rate: 90Hz or 120Hz. Spicy!
- Lenses: Dual-element… Fresnel? Sounds fancy.
- Field-of-view: It’s a 120° horizontal peek into virtual worlds.
- And, well, it goes on with connectors, tracking, and audio bits too.
This thing isn’t the freshest fruit on the tech tree, I guess. It’s got these thicker Fresnel lenses and, let’s face it, it’s a bit of a chunky beast. Compare it to the Bigscreen Beyond 2, which is leaner, and, okay, a tad more cutting-edge with that high-res vibe.
But, listen up — it’s $200 cheaper than the Beyond 2. Not bad, right? It even includes all that SteamVR kit. Just remember, if it’s going to work smoothly, your PC needs to be a VR champ. Got it? Good.
And now, some fresh gossip! HTC’s teasing us with new bundles for their Vive Focus Vision, unveiled late 2024. It’s both a standalone virtual/mixed reality wonder and hooks up wirelessly or through DisplayPort to your trusty PC.
Until June 30th, they’re dangling these bundles:
- Vive Focus Vision – PC VR Kit for $1,149; you get the headset, controllers, a Wired Streaming Kit, and games like Metro Awakening and Arizona Sunshine 2.
- Just the VIVE Focus Vision is $1,049 with some game bonuses.
Funny thing, it used to be $1,000 at release. But thanks to some good old US tariffs on China-made goods, it nudged up $49 after May 31st. Taxes, eh?
A quick note for our friends across the pond: In Europe and the UK, they’ve got some sales too, running till June 30th. Bundles like:
- Vive Pro 2 Full Kit for €839/£699,
- And even stuff like the Vive XR Elite or various tracker kits.
Not to drown you in details — but yeah! That’s the lowdown on HTC’s headset world right now. Fascinating, no?
