Alright, so here we go. I was, like, totally hyped for the Capcom Spotlight back in June ’cause, you know, Resident Evil Requiem and all. But eh, not quite the blockbuster gameplay blowout we were crossing fingers for. Life, right?
What we did get was a peek into Capcom’s brain. Why they’re steering the sequel like this? Kinda fascinating if you squint at it the right way.
Oh, and speaking of squinting – there was this whole Creators’ Message thing, sort of developer diary-style. Picture lots of faces talking, sprinkled with glimpses of gameplay. Honestly, felt more like a teaser date than a full-on reveal. But hey, the mystery unfolds!
So, here’s what hit me – the protagonist, Grace. Turns out she’s family, the Ashcroft kind. Remember Resident Evil Outbreak? Yup. Mind blown yet? Capcom’s playing connect-the-dots with Raccoon City and Umbrella for the 30-year hurrah. Makes sense, sort of. Maybe?
Now, don’t even get me started on Leon Kennedy. Poor guy didn’t get the lead, but hey, Capcom’s angle is all about spook factor. Grace is designed to freak out easy – maybe like you or me – and Leon? Well, he’s kind of past the whole jump scare thing.
Anyway, Grace is no newbie with a badge. She’s got that FBI training swag but still green enough to be us in a zombie apocalypse. Can relate? A bit of gun skills, though. Keeps her balanced on that tightrope of terror.
And here’s a twist: you can play Requiem in first or third person. Yeah, they said it’s nothing to do with that Village DLC. More about what players prefer – first-person tunnel vision or third-person panorama?
Mark your calendars: February 27, 2026. PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S – the usual suspects. Counted down much? Can’t help it!
