It’s kind of wild, really, how these tech reviews go down sometimes. So, you’ve got this review from some Chinese guy, Chimolog or whatever, and he’s just laying into the Switch 2’s screen. Apparently, it’s got a response time that’s slower than molasses in January, or something like that, clocking in at an average of 17.06ms. Yeah, no solid proof or method given though — so who even knows if it’s legit or if he just had a bad day.
Anyway, this screen — a 1080p, 120Hz, 7.9-inch LCD, right? — can allegedly hit a best-case 8.88ms response time, but sometimes it’s dragging at a pitiful 27.46ms. So, you’re trying to play at 60 FPS? Forget about it, the pixels are snoozing or something.
Chimolog’s comparing it to other monitors — and our beloved Switch 2 comes in last. By a long shot. The next one up is this Innocn M2U thing with a 11.06ms response. It’s like, 65% better or so he says. Compare that, and you’re left wondering if Nintendo even cared about the screen at all.
Still, there are some positives, surprisingly. We’re talking contrast, brightness, color — all those shiny specs you pretend to understand while nodding your head. Though, now this weird bit about text looking fuzzy because of some funky RGB layout. Apparently, the text looks like it’s been through a blender.
And we didn’t even get proof if this 120Hz business holds up. Like, can this display manage that without tripping over its own pixels? No idea really — Chimolog didn’t get into that, maybe got bored. Not helpful, dude.
But let’s get real here. Despite this screen fiasco, folks are still snapping up the Switch 2 like it’s the last console on Earth. Record-breaking sales, 3.5 million in four days! People just want those sweet, sweet Nintendo games, blurry screen be damned. Plus, who else is making Mario stuff, right?
Would be great if they whipped up an OLED version fast though. This screen stuff’s a joke, and it’s weirdly impressive how the console’s still flying off shelves. Go figure.
