EA has announced that their highly acclaimed co-op game, Split Fiction, will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 for $49.99, matching the price of its other versions on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Fans eager to secure their copy can start pre-ordering on April 24. The game, crafted by Hazelight Studios, has been making waves since its March 2025 debut, and this summer, Nintendo Switch 2 owners will get to dive into the action as well.
In 2025, only two releases scored a prestigious 90 from critics, and Split Fiction proudly stands among them, alongside the puzzle-adventure hit Blue Prince. Remembering Hazelight’s previous success with It Takes Two, Split Fiction also offers a split-screen multiplayer mode where collaboration is key. Players step into the shoes of authors Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, who find themselves trapped in their creative worlds by a machine bent on stealing ideas. Previously confirmed as a launch title for the Switch 2, more details have now emerged about what to expect from this version.
According to a recent blog post on EA’s website, pre-orders for Split Fiction on the Nintendo Switch 2 will officially begin on April 24, with the price set the same as its PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC counterparts. In a Creator’s Voice video, Hazelight Studio’s Founder Josef Fares, along with COO Oskar Wolontis, revealed that players will enjoy GameShare and GameChat advantages, and notably, one purchase allows two players to join forces, regardless of whether they use the Switch 2 or the original Switch. Cross Play support further sweetens the deal.
As a side note, just after Split Fiction hit the shelves, it was unveiled that Story Kitchen would be adapting it into a film. Hazelight Studios’ success with It Takes Two continues as it’s already slated for both film and TV adaptations, though release dates are still under wraps.
While Hazelight Studios is celebrated for co-op experiences, there’s a buzz around the possibility of them venturing into single-player games. In a March update, Fares noted the studio’s dedication to co-op formats but didn’t entirely close the door on single-player possibilities.
Fans are eagerly awaiting this new adventure, especially with the confirmed use of Unreal Engine 5, promising a visually stunning and immersive experience. All eyes are on what new milestones Split Fiction will conquer next.
