PowerWash Simulator 2 is bubbling over with excitement as it introduces an array of fresh locations, superior tools, and exciting new features. Design Director Dan Chequer shares some insights on why creating a sequel felt like the obvious progression. You can now wish list PowerWash Simulator 2, coming to the Microsoft Store for Xbox.
Who could resist the allure of PowerWash Simulator, with its mesmerizing first-person sprayer experience? Well, we’re delighted to announce the next chapter: PowerWash Simulator 2! Set to launch in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, it’s ready for you to add to your wish list on the Microsoft Store.
For those who have already enjoyed the original via Game Pass, you know what you’re in for. But for the newcomers, imagine diving into a mess, cleaning it up, growing your business, and losing yourself in the calm satisfaction of it all. Add in some intriguing backstory involving a mayor, a cat, and even aliens, and you’re set for quite an adventure.
The profound love from over 17 million fans inspired us to create more, as Design Director Dan Chequer explains: “The success of PowerWash Simulator surpassed our expectations. Although we’ve enriched the original game significantly, its foundational tech had limits we wanted to push past for new and engaging features. So naturally, discussions about a sequel began.”
Creating a follow-up is notorious for being tricky, but we’ve approached this task with patience and careful thought. Following the adage, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” we’ve ensured this sequel retains the charm and satisfaction fans adore, while adding even more content that our community craves.
Dan Chequer continues, “We wanted the sequel to feel like a natural extension and enhancement of the original. Our focus remains on offering a seamless and soothing experience, allowing players to transition effortlessly from one game to the next, with fresh additions and improvements where possible.”
One exciting development is the inclusion of enhanced soap—a feature I never thought I’d be excited to write about! But before we dive into the specifics, let’s explore what PowerWash Simulator 2 promises.
In the last installment, players operated out of a garage, but lacked a personal space to call their own. This time around, we’re introducing a home base, which offers a chance for customization with furniture and trinkets picked up along the way. This not only gives players a more business-like feel but also provides a sense of continuity from the first game.
“When we began work on the sequel, we faced the challenge of where to take the story after the dramatic conclusion of the first game. In PowerWash Simulator 2, we wanted to advance our characters’ tales a few years while expanding on the previous game’s climactic events,” explains Dan.
The narrative has been designed as optional, allowing players to enjoy a full, satisfying experience without delving into it. Those who opt-in, however, will find a compelling storyline that ties together what you’re cleaning and why, enriching both games.
One significant update is the introduction of shared progression in multiplayer mode. Previously, guests in a host’s game didn’t benefit much from campaign progression or rewards. We’ve changed that. Now, up to four players can embark on the career mode online, all sharing the same progression and rewards. We’re also rolling out a split-screen mode for local, couch co-op fun.
The heart of PowerWash Simulator lies in its gratifying gameplay. After careful consideration, we’ve decided to introduce features that enhance the cleaning experience without compromising it. Abseiling, a long-requested feature, is in development now, with other exciting equipment upgrades in the works.
Improved soap mechanics are also part of the update. In the sequel, players can spray a foamy pre-treatment that softens dirt, making it easy to rinse away for a spotless finish. The visuals have been polished too, offering a smoother, more immersive cleaning experience.
On the studio front, FuturLab is taking the reins to self-publish PowerWash Simulator 2. COO Chris Mehers reflects, “The community support has been phenomenal, allowing us to expand the franchise and develop new IPs. With our dedicated team, we’re eager to embrace upcoming challenges and extend our gratitude to you all for making this possible.”
We’ve got plenty more coming your way. Until then, PowerWash Simulator 2 is ready for wish-listing, and we invite you to become part of our vibrant community. Join us on Discord, Twitter/X, BlueSky, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook for more updates.
