Okay, bear with me. So, like, there’s this new game coming out next month called NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound. I mean, who doesn’t love a throwback game launched on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, right? Dotemu and The Game Kitchen are throwing it out there. Or maybe they’re launching it. I can never keep track of gamer lingo. Anyway — wait, what was I saying?
Oh yeah, you gotta enter your birthdate to watch the trailer. Why? No clue. Stuck with me though, mainly because I hate putting my birthdate into anything online — one year it’s all just January 1st all around.
So the deal with this game? It’s a mishmash of, like, old-school ninja business and snazzy new graphics. The guys from Blasphemous are behind this. Now that I think of it, why the name Ragebound? Are the ninjas just that angry they need a whole game for it? Or maybe it’s just to add some drama. Wouldn’t be the first time.
There’s this guy, Ryu Hayabusa — absolute ninja icon — off to America, following dad’s orders or something. While he’s chilling stateside, bam! Demons decide it’s party time back at Hayabusa Village. And who’s left to handle the chaos? Kenji Mozu, a young ninja who’s gotta step up. Probably a lot like stepping into wet shoes – uncomfortable but necessary.
Now, here’s a kicker. Kenji teams up with the Black Spider Clan. The name alone makes me want to check under my bed for creepy crawlies. They mix their powers, break some serious ninja taboos, all to give that Demon Lord a big ol’ nope.
And if that wasn’t enough, the gameplay takes you on a ride. Like old-school fun but with that modern zhoosh. You get to be Kenji and his assassin buddy Kumori. Think ninja tag team on a wild Saturday night. Plus, there’s this thing called Ninja Fusion — sounds explosive and probably requires quick reflexes. Grab those controllers tight, folks.
The graphics are, well, pixelated nostalgia at its finest. I watched the trailer and got the impression of a pixel artsy showdown. Like, remember your favorite 8-bit childhood memories but sharper and more chaotic?
Are you ready to become a true ninja master? Can’t vouch for you, but this game — it’s calling to unleash my inner, virtual ninja. There you go. Happy ninja-ing!
