Acer just rolled out an exciting batch of six new graphics card models in the Radeon RX 9070 series. These fresh releases include both base and overclocked (OC) versions, boasting impressive speeds of up to 3.1 GHz, making quite a splash in the gaming community.
In a surprising move, Acer, AMD’s partner, unveiled its latest RDNA 4 GPUs with a range of BiFrost and Nitro editions. The company, known for its sporadic presence in the AMD graphics card scene, made a significant mark this time with six distinct models across their new lineup—three for each edition.
Let’s dive into the lineup. First up are the two Nitro editions designed for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the Radeon RX 9070, alongside a BiFrost edition for each. When it comes to aesthetics and cooling prowess, the BiFrost editions showcase Acer’s top-tier designs, while the Nitro models cater more to mainstream users, yet still pack a punch with decent specs.
Taking a closer look at the BiFrost models, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB stands out with its sleek three-fan cooling setup, wrapped in a chic shroud with silver accents highlighting the middle fan. Its FrostBlade 4.0 fans with a counter-spin approach are dedicated to exceptional heat management. With dimensions of about 295 mm and a thickness of 2.5 slots, this card is factory-overclocked, cranking up to a solid 3.1 GHz for a stellar gaming performance.
Now, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB is quite similar visually. However, it has two 8-pin power connectors, contrasting with the XT variant’s three, yet both cards are rated at 340W. While the RX 9070 typically requires less power, the two 8-pin connectors, combined with the PCI-E x16 slot, can adequately support the 340W demanded by the hardware. Still, the RX 9070 lacks the wiggle room for overclocking that the BiFrost RX 9070 XT OC offers.
On to the Nitro series, where there’s a mix of OC and non-OC models for each RX 9070 card. The Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC, featuring three fans and aligned with a 3.1 GHz boost clock, mirrors the BiFrost edition in terms of size while also being fed by three 8-pin power connectors, drawing a power of 340W. Meanwhile, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT, at 304W, still uses the same three connectors, shifting between boosts of up to 2970 MHz and game modes around 2.4 GHz.
Rounding out the series, the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC and RX 9070 16 GB models step up next. These cards clock in at 2.7 GHz and 2.52 GHz, respectively. The OC variant takes the lead at 245W power draw, whereas the non-OC maintains a steady 220W, yet shares the same design.
Although Acer remains tight-lipped on the pricing across the board, it’s been confirmed that the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will set gamers back around $829.99. Expectations are set even higher for the BiFrost editions, hinting at a steeper price tag. Availability details are sparse, but we know the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC will hit the US market come April.
