Oh wow, so Hollow Knight: Silksong is actually gonna be out this year! Can you believe it? Guess it was confirmed by Microsoft (those guys always dropping surprises) during this Xbox Games Showcase thing. Sarah Bond, apparently, spilled the beans about some Xbox Ally too—like a gaming gizmo cooked up with Asus. I didn’t even know I cared about handhelds until now. Strange, huh?
Anyway, so Silksong’s gonna launch alongside these ROG Xbox Ally devices. Imagine, two gadgets ready by holiday 2025? It’s like, are we living in the future already? They even showed off Silksong in the trailer for these handhelds. Talk about putting a spotlight on it.
And oh, it’s not just for Xbox, thank goodness. You got your Nintendo Switch, various PlayStations, and PCs too. Plus, it’s on Microsoft’s Game Pass right from the start. Instant access kinda spoils us, doesn’t it?
Rewind a bit—back in 2017 (was that really six years ago?), there was this game called Hollow Knight. It was all Metroidvania-ish and blew a lot of minds. Silksong was supposed to just be a little add-on for that, but the creators went all in and made it a standalone sequel. We’ve got Hornet now—princess, warrior, and speedy little thing from the original game.
The devs (Team Cherry, remember them?) said in some 2019 blog that we’re looking at a new realm to explore, filled with silk and song. And over 150 new enemies—like, are they trying to keep us busy forever? Hornet’s moves have leveled up too. She’s practically dancing through battles, all agile and angular.
So yeah, all this info got me way too excited. But hey, that’s just what games do, right?
