I came across this thing about Wooster Games and, oh man, where do I even start? So, they’ve got this game called Animal Company. It’s got over a million people playing every month. Yup, let that sink in for a sec. Million. Feels like yesterday it was crawling, and now it’s practically sprinting to the top of VR fame. Not sure why it’s called that, but maybe it has to do with some gorilla and lethal stuff mashed together? Sounds wild, right? Maybe that’s just me overthinking it.
Anyway, since it dropped on the Quest last July, people can’t seem to get enough of it. It’s like taking the best (or maybe craziest) bits of Gorilla Tag and Lethal Company and blending them into some horror-mystery-social chaos. Like, are we scared or laughing? Who even knows at this point.
I’ve been eyeballing its rise in the ranks, kind of like when you keep checking on a loaf of bread in the oven. It’s been fighting for top honors against some heavyweights like Yeeps 2.0, Beat Saber, and good ol’ Gorilla Tag.
Oh, and here’s a tidbit from those big brain sessions at Meta or something. Wooster chatted about how they didn’t even bring in the money stuff until three months after launch. Why? They wanted to make sure people were really into it. And boy, were they right! Numbers like 100 minutes of play every day, and insane TikTok views — a billion of them. It’s like everyone and their dog is watching it.
Fast forward, and they’re seeing this ridiculous growth in paying users. Nine times more in just six months. Now, it’s chilling at the fifth spot for all-time Quest earnings. At some crazy peak between Christmas and March 2025, they went from 145K daily users to, get this, half a million. Yep, that’s half a million people logging in every day. Kind of nuts if you think about it.
For a deeper dive, they’ve got more deets in an interview somewhere, and there’s a video too, if you’re the watch-before-you-read type. Can’t say I blame you if you’re curious.
