Okay, so let’s dive into this wild world of VR headsets, yeah? Bigscreen’s out here dropping a bombshell with this new VRChat Edition of their Beyond 2e. It’s like they took their slim, spicy little headset and basically said, “Hey, what if we make something just for the wild ride that is VRChat?” Here we go.
So, these first Beyond 2 babies started shipping last month. You’ve got your regular Beyond 2 and the fancy shmancy Beyond 2e with eye-tracking magic. But now, Bigscreen’s pushing the envelope again. I mean, come September 2025, they’ll be shipping out this exclusive VRChat Edition. Fancy, right?
Specs-wise, this VRChat Edition isn’t reinventing the wheel. Pretty much same deal as the Beyond 2e. Got those nifty eye-tracking sensors, 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays, and a roomy 116° FOV that makes you feel all immersive. Oh, and it’s light. Like, 107 grams light. How is that even a thing?
Okay, pause. Check this out—I’m obsessed with the casing. They’re going for a translucent Atomic Purple shell. Like, who doesn’t want their tech to look that cool? And they’ve even got some hand-drawn packaging going on. It’s selling for $1,269, which is just a $50 bump over the standard deal.
But here’s the kicker (there’s always a kicker, right?). You gotta have that VR-ready PC, not to mention all the extra gadgets like SteamVR base stations and controllers. It’s like needing a space shuttle to power your new jetpack. But honestly, who wouldn’t want VRChat badges and stickers all over their profiles? I know I’d flaunt them. And rumor has it, more snazzy features are coming soon. Maybe, we’ll see some rare giveaway stuff. Fingers crossed, eh?
Oh, and if you’re one of the cool kids with a preorder already, you can totally hit up their support to upgrade. I imagine you’d want to tell Bigscreen, “Hey, give me the new fancy one!” I would, probably.
While we’re all twiddling our thumbs till September, why not check out an hour-long chat with Bigscreen’s main guy Darshan Shankar and VRChat’s community dude, Tupper? They dive deep into headsets, eye-tracking, and all that jazz. Who even knew eye-tracking was such a big deal, right? Anyway, no clue how I ended up here. But now, I’m dreaming of VR worlds and translucent gadgetry. Over and out.
