Fireball 2. So, I stumbled upon this – how do I put this? – neon explosion of chaos that somehow crashed into my PS5. Seriously, it’s like Radiangames decided “Hey, how about a fireball? But let’s make it dodgy, explosive, and oh, let’s throw everything and the kitchen sink at it.” I grabbed my controller, thinking, “Why not?” And guess what? This thing is a ride.
Let me explain, kind of. You’re a literal fireball. No, not metaphorically. You roam about triggering bombs and trying not to get squished by swarms of… stuff. The game’s all about survival. So, you lure these pixelated weirdos near bombs because blowing them up apparently is the only way to score. I mean, it’s bonkers when like a bazillion enemies are on you. You better be quick to boost – or, you know, perish. Tough love, I guess.
There’s some modes too. Core Mode is like the vanilla experience – if “vanilla” means dodging death every second. Enemies avoid bombs (thanks, guys), but Chaos Mode? Oh boy. That name’s no joke. Slower enemies but endless spawning? Honestly, I felt like I was in a fever dream. They spawn from your movement? What even? Guess it means you gotta think on your feet. Or wheels? Fireballs don’t have feet, right? Never mind.
And the controls? Simple enough! You’re zooming around with a stick or D-Pad, and touching bombs. The boosting part? Yeah, you can infinitely zoom but doing that? You might end up in a swarm. So, it’s a balance, kind of like juggling flaming knives on a tightrope. Fun but risky. Sort of become your own worst enemy, zooming into chaos.
Oh, oh! Novas! These power things happen when you blow up enough baddies. They’re like bombs on steroids. And when a Nova appears, you get upgrades – think Mario power-ups but spicier. Fireball grows bigger and faster, maybe with an extra life too. SuperNovas, Blackholes… it’s like fireworks went to a rave. Invincible wildness for a snappy moment. Many times, I was like, “Oh! What now?” When two Novas collide, bam! Blackhole. It’s unspeakably epic.
Trophies? There’s a full shiny list to chase. Survive waves, upgrade health, create Blackholes, die – yep, that’s a thing too. It’s oddly satisfying, aiming for these random achievements. Feeling like I’m ticking off chaos boxes or something.
So, Fireball 2 – a vibrant mess of colors and speed-driven madness. It’s pure arcade energy – like being in an 80s arcade, neon buzz and all. Out there for $6.99, if you’ve got PS5 lying around. Worth playing if you fancy a bit of mayhem to make your day. It’s a hot, chaotic mess – literally. Would I recommend? Maybe, probably. Depends if you’re feeling fiery or not.
Disclaimer though – got my paws on a review copy from Radiangames. Who knew playing with fireballs would be this thrilling?
