Atlus just dropped this teaser, and everyone’s buzzing. But hold on — it’s not for Persona 6. Nope, not even a remix of Persona 5. Sorry, if you got your hopes up there! It’s actually about this mobile spinoff, Persona 5: The Phantom X. Yeah, that one.
Anyway, earlier this week, they posted this thing on X — or was it Twitter? — with Wonder’s glasses in the mix. Oh, and that line “Retake your desire!” (Sounds dramatic, right?) Plus, there’s an owl emoji thrown in. Guess what, it hints at Lufel — or is it Luffy? — that talking bird buddy of the protagonist. Kind of quirky, if you ask me. And, yeah, the whole Morgana vibes.
Moving on, Sega and Atlus planned this live stream for Thursday. They’re gonna showcase more about this mobile game, aiming at a wider crowd. I saw on Atlus’ Japanese YouTube (don’t ask why I was there), they’re spilling the beans on release dates and maybe even info on the English version. Crossing fingers for something cool!
So, here’s the deets: Catch it on Thursday, May 15, at 11 p.m. JST, which translates to 10 a.m. EDT and, uh, 7 a.m. for all you out on the Pacific coast.
Alright, back to Phantom X! It’s a twist on Persona 5. You know, that awesome JRPG vibe, but now as a gacha game for mobiles and PCs. Microtransactions are their thing here. Some company, Perfect World Games (never heard of them?), is behind it, teaming with Sega and Atlus. There was an open beta in April 2024 in China, and it’s spreading out to places like Taiwan and Korea soon. Keep your eyes peeled if you’re in those spots!
What’s neat? This Phantom X world runs parallel to the original Persona 5. Think of the protagonist, Wonder, who can summon Personas just like Joker does. And—oh boy!—there’s Luffy the owl. The plot? Stopping stuff from getting whacked in their world. Or something like that.
And for those hoping for Persona 6 news — sorry folks, zilch for now. Looks like we’ll be hanging out with The Phantom X gang for the time being.
