I’m sitting here, scratching my head over why Blizzard keeps going down this road with Overwatch 2. Anyway, they just rolled out this fancy new trailer for the Overwatch 2 x Street Fighter 6 crossover event. I’m not gonna lie, seeing those skins in motion? They looked pretty slick. Last week, they teased us with some animated stuff, but you couldn’t really tell what the skins actually looked like then. So, finally, they did everyone a favor and showed the real deal. It was about time!
Okay, so listen. I love Street Fighter—always have. But the thing is, why does Overwatch 2 need to cling to other franchises for cool-factor points? It’s becoming a bit of a habit now, like every month there’s a new crossover. Gives off a bit of a Fortnite vibe, doesn’t it? And look, I’ve got tons of love for the Overwatch universe and its characters. Even with all the drama that’s gone down, I’d rather see those guys getting some attention. But yeah, it’s a bummer. The world they created just feels a bit like it’s playing second fiddle while we get hit with this barrage of crossovers. That being said, if this is the way the cookie crumbles, at least the skins this time look decent. No idea why that matters to me, but there it is. They’re letting us see our beloved heroes dressed up as some of Capcom’s most iconic fighters—kinda cool, right?
The lineup’s pretty wild: Hanzo’s rocking Ryu, Juno as Chun-Li, Widow as Cammy, Kiriko channeling Juri, Soldier: 76 strutting as Guile, Sigma’s M. Bison look, Winston getting his Blanka on, and Zenyatta as Dhalsim. What a wild mix.
Oh, and while I’m still on this Overwatch ride, I gotta say the game itself is buzzing. There’s this new Stadium mode—I have no clue why they called it that, but hey, it adds a fresh twist. You can build your character up over seven rounds in a match. It’s kinda invigorating, like a shot of adrenaline the game needed since it became a sequel in 2022. Feels like a small win amidst the chaos.
