Oh man, so yo, Google might be about to drop some new smart glasses at the whole Google I/O thing next week. And honestly, feels like they’re taking a swing at those Ray-Ban Meta Glasses? Maybe. Or not. Depends.
So there’s this promo out there, right? And Sameer Samat, who’s like the big Android Ecosystem dude, pops up wearing these glasses. He didn’t spill much tea about them, but he did mention that people at the event could see some wild Android stuff. Not sure what that means exactly, but sounds kinda cool.
Get this: we did a bit of detective work—with some serious screenshot-cropping skills—and those glasses are totally Wayfarer-ish with a camera sensor chilling on the left. I mean, who knew you could get so much from a zoom-in? But wait, isn’t there an LED above the camera too? Probably to show when it’s snapping pics or whatever. Hmm, interesting.
And those arms? Super clunky, giving vibes that they’re hiding batteries and processors. Seriously, what else would fit in there? And Samat hinted at this Android XR operating system, so maybe it’s already running that. Side note: there’s this tiny slit by the ear, maybe for audio or could be a button? Or nothing actually. Hard to say sometimes with these high-tech gizmos.
Oh, and don’t forget about Apple—they’re rumored to work on their own glasses with some processor that’s supposedly all fancy and stuff. What a time to be alive.
But yeah, Google I/O is coming up on May 20-21, and that’s when we’ll see all the action unfold. Livestreams, keynotes, techie talks. You name it, it’s probably happening. Supposedly there’ll be talks on Android XR too. Might catch it on YouTube if you’re curious like me.
Catch the wave below, or something like that.
