Okay, so, there’s this new game, The Lonesome Guild. Kinda wild in how it’s from Tiny Bull Studios, you know, those guys who did VR stuff and Lovecraftian spooky games (not for the faint of heart). But now they’re all like, “Hey, let’s do something more for the kiddos.” Enter this game — with fluffy animals and a not-so-scary ghost. Kind of like Casper, if you remember him. Honestly, I would’ve loved this when I was younger, and I think I still do. Weird, right?
Picture this: everything kicks off with this lonely shooting star zooming across the land of Etere — probably feeling super isolated up there, I guess. It crashes (dramatically) into a forest. Boom! Out spins this mist of super concentrated loneliness. Also, there’s a ghost in dire need of a buddy. So, there’s Davinci, this inventor rabbit. He’s an interesting dude. Spots the ghost and goes, “I’ll call it Ghost.” Pretty straightforward. Together, they’re off on this big adventure to figure out Ghost’s whole deal (pretty intriguing, if you ask me).
Oh, and then there’s Mr. Fox — not sure if that’s his actual name. But anyway, he’s another playable character in this short demo. Davinci’s kinda hyper and says stuff like “Sparks!” instead of swearing — very endearing. Mr. Fox? Total opposite. Grumpy as heck but you can just feel it in your bones they’ll be bffs eventually. Why? Well, friendship, right?
Which is kinda the whole thing with The Lonesome Guild. It’s all about making pals. This group is off to find Ran, a supposed friend of Davinci’s, for a shortcut. Spoiler: they encounter instead this big ‘ole automaton that attacks them. Apparently, Davinci’s never met Ran in the flesh, just been pen pals. Seems like Davinci’s built up this grand idea of their friendship, maybe a bit more than reality? Maybe loneliness is his thing too.
There’s this campfire scene too — very cozy. They get to chat and earn these Relationship points. Sounds like RPG stuff but hey, it’s the thought that counts. Hopefully, it doesn’t just tally up points just for stats, right? Big hopes there.
Then, bam! Combat time. Those enemies are tougher than they look, especially with their fancy overalls and pots as helmets (I mean, who does that?). It’s your good ol’ dodge, roll, and fight deal. But here’s the twist — Ghost can sort of zap into characters, upping their oomph, making them glow kinda like when I have way too much caffeine. The trick is using this power smartly or you might find yourself in a jam with the wrong character under attack. Keep those reflexes sharp, you know?
But hey, what really sticks? Not just the fighting. It’s the whole let’s-be-friends vibe. Tried the demo and the characters are layered, very onion-like. Can’t wait for more of these adorable, lonely animals to pop up when this gem drops on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X later on. Bring it on!
